“………………There are approximately 415 terrestrial navigation aids located across Australia of which approximately 200 (mostly non-directional beacons and VHF Omni Range equipment installations) are mostly at end-of-life, do not have spare parts support by manufacturers and are difficult and expensive to maintain. Airservices Australia has estimated that it would cost approximately $120m to replace or upgrade the 200 navigation aids to support the current level of navigation services required for Instrument Flights Rules aircraft.
